Ceramics, Contemporary Art, Culture and Creative Life
Acclaimed curator, writer and editor Alison Kubler joined celebrated artist, writer and curator Glenn Barkley in conversation for a lively engaging evening exploring the ideas, stories and influences behind Glenn’s remarkable career and the ever-evolving world of contemporary ceramics.
Presented in conjunction with a BSA Project Space Annexe installation and weekend workshop at Byron School of Art, this special event brought together two distinctive Australian cultural voices for an engaging public conversation that appealed to artists, collectors, design lovers and curious newcomers alike.
With Alison Kubler guiding the discussion, Glenn Barkley shared insights from his acclaimed book Ceramics: An Atlas of Forms, opening up the rich and often surprising world of ceramics and its intersections with contemporary art, popular music, domestic life and the garden.
It was an intelligent, generous and wide-ranging exchange between two respected figures in Australian arts publishing, curating and contemporary culture—one that invited audiences to rethink the role of ceramics in everyday life and in the broader language of art.
